About: The AWP is a local, 501 c (3) non-profit organization that is a comprehensive source of
services and opportunities for the Warrior (past or present military) community. We strive to be the
“go-to” organization for Warriors who need assistance in critical life areas, such as housing, education,
and health care.
The AWP is 100 % committed to the continued development of its model of successful community
Warrior care in the greater Augusta area. The Augusta Warrior Project is not affiliated with the
Wounded Warrior Project of Jacksonville, Florida. However, the Wounded Warrior Project does
provide resources that help make the Augusta Warrior Project’s model of Warrior care the gold standard
for other communities across the nation to emulate.
Mission: The Augusta Warrior Project’s mission is to connect Warriors (past or present military)
and their families with resources that improve their lives.
Who we serve: The Warrior population of the greater Augusta area of Georgia and South
Carolina. There are more than 66,000 Warriors – 27,000 of which are under the age of 45 – living in our
community.
The Augusta Warrior Projects 2012 goals, 100% focused on the Central
Savannah River Area:
- Reduce Warrior homelessness by 40%
- Reduce Warrior unemployment by 20%
- Increase Warrior enrollment with Veterans Affairs by 20%
- Increase Warrior enrollment in training or college by 20%
- Create a relationship with 30% of the 66,000 Warrior living in our region
- Strengthen existing government and non-government support programs through increased
